histories of patients. They prescribe medications and gives order to perform and
interpret diagnostic tests. They advice to patients for diet, hygiene, and preventive
healthcare and not operate on patients to treat injuries such as broken bones, diseases,
cancerous tumors and deformities and cleft palates etc.
Physicians
are types of doctors and categorized by a variety of factors including medical specialty,
or patient population. For example Primary care physician is a type of doctor and
he provides family medicine. Family practice physicians see patients of all ages
and provide basic care for a variety of more common illness.
Internal
medicine physicians and internists also can provide primary care or they can also
sub-specialize into a variety of other areas such as gastroenterology or endocrinology.
These are names a few of many sub-specialties. They have more hospital-based training
than family practitioners and they do not typically see children under the age of
18. Physician Hospitalists only see patients in the hospital. Most hospitalists
are physicians who trained in internal medicine. They are preferring hospital work
over more clinic-based primary care.
